pregnancy massage
A gently nurturing, specially formulated massage for a mum-to-be. This is a deeply relaxing treatment that adapts to each stage of pregnancy to support both mother and baby during this special time.
It helps to relieve common discomforts such as backache, leg cramps, swelling, and fatigue, while promoting relaxation, calm and improved sleep.
Your therapist will tailor your session safely to your stage of pregnancy, usually working with you lying on your side or in a semi-reclined position for comfort. Techniques are soothing rather than deep, easing muscular tension and supporting circulation without placing pressure on sensitive areas.
Many women find that pregnancy massage also provides valuable emotional support, offering time to connect with their changing body and growing baby.
what to expect
You will remain clothed in underwear or loose clothing, with blankets and additional cushions used for your comfort and privacy. Sessions are fully tailored to your needs, and you’ll be asked to complete a client registration form so your therapist is aware of any health considerations or pre-existing conditions.
Be prepared to rest after your treatment — while your practitioner will offer you some water, you are always advised to bring a little extra, as massage helps eliminate toxins and mild light-headedness can occur if dehydrated.
To gain the maximum benefit, try to book a time when you don’t have any significant commitments afterwards, allowing your body and mind to fully absorb the restorative effects of the treatment.
Important: Pregnancy massage should only be delivered by qualified practitioners with specialist training in pre- and post-natal care. Please advise us at the time of booking if you have any pregnancy complications, high blood pressure, or other medical conditions that may prevent treatment, or that we may need to be aware of to adapt your care appropriately.
important safety information
Your safety, and that of your baby, is always our highest priority.
We are unable to offer any form of massage during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, even in healthy pregnancies. Treatments can only begin after 12 weeks, once you have entered your second trimester.
All clients wishing to book a pregnancy massage are required to provide a written note of consent from their GP or midwife before treatment. This applies to every expectant mother and ensures your session is carried out safely and appropriately.
If you have experienced a previous miscarriage (particularly after 16 weeks) or your pregnancy has been achieved through IVF (particularly beyond 22 weeks), your therapist will take additional precautions and discuss the most suitable approach for you before proceeding.
