What is Counselling?
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to talk through your concerns with a trained professional. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, your therapist supports you in finding your own way forward—whether that’s making changes in your life or developing ways to cope.
Our approach is integrative, meaning your therapist may draw on different therapeutic models to suit you as an individual. Often grounded in a person-centred approach, the focus is on you—offering openness, honesty, and acceptance so you feel heard, understood, and valued.
Counselling can also support you in improving relationships and strengthening connections, helping you develop more effective ways of communicating and resolving conflict. Over time, it can deepen your understanding of yourself and how you respond to different situations.
Individual & Couples Counselling
It can support both individuals and couples, and may be helpful for a range of challenges, including difficulties at work, anxiety or low mood, grief and loss, low self-confidence or self-esteem, relationship issues, communication difficulties, conflict, infidelity, parenting challenges, or life transitions.
Individual counselling offers a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, helping you gain clarity and feel more able to move forward.
Couples counselling focuses on the relationship itself, exploring how you relate to one another and the impact of current challenges on the relationship. As well as understanding what has happened, the work also supports you in thinking about how you would like the relationship to be, and how to move forward together.
For those seeking a deeper exploration of patterns and relationships, other therapeutic approaches are also available.
what to expect
Counselling can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs and the approach that feels right for you.
Sessions are usually held weekly, at the same time and last 60 minutes. Before starting, you will be offered a free discovery call. This gives you the opportunity to discuss your needs, ask questions, and ensure you feel comfortable with the counsellor’s approach.
From time to time, your practitioner may suggest a longer session depending on your circumstances. This will always be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
