Janet Derby
Janet Darby trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA), Royal Leamington Spa, graduating in 1996, where she had the privilege of studying under internationally acclaimed Professor J.R. Worsley. Her personal interest in acupuncture was sparked after experiencing and benefiting from treatment herself. Following this, she seized the opportunity to shadow Professor Worsley in clinical consultations and continued her learning with the Worsley Institute, completing the Masters Apprenticeship Program in Boston and Seattle.
Janet’s postgraduate qualifications include basic teacher training at Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, USA (2016) and advanced teacher training at the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture (ITEA), Louisville, Colorado, USA (2019). She is now a member of the Worsley Institute Training UK faculty and is deeply committed to preserving the integrity of Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncture by teaching the next generation of practitioners with the Worsley Institute Team at WIT UK.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, Janet spent many years working in Sydney and Canberra, Australia, where she was registered with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Returning to the UK in 2018, she is delighted to offer this powerful therapy and help patients with a range of health concerns.
Beyond her acupuncture career, Janet was previously a member of the Great Britain World Cup-winning Ladies Modern Pentathlon Team (1979–1981) and the English World Silver Medal-winning Ladies Team for Mountain Running in 1989. Although her focus has shifted from competition to holistic health, she maintains a keen interest in supporting athletes and individuals in achieving and maintaining their wellbeing.
